How sad. We need to stop and look occasionally to make sure it doesn't happen again!Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02652234142945839138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7741889335668464068.post-90422461277769101612008-10-14T17:45:00.000-04:002008-10-14T17:45:00.000-04:00Such a great take on the quote sweetie.Such a great take on the quote sweetie.Denisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09275456448997619944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7741889335668464068.post-27418364555670514082008-10-14T16:03:00.000-04:002008-10-14T16:03:00.000-04:00Patricia,It's funny because I think self-righteous...Patricia,
It's funny because I think self-righteous Christians start out being sincerely concerned about others - there just seems to be a point where a change happens and a self-righteous attitude takes over.

Churches are biblical and needed...and unfortunately full of flawed people.

Have you ever noticed that the people who AREN'T esteemed as being the most "Godly" or as having leadership qualities, are often the ones who are the closest to God and the most capable of leading?

Oh what a day it will be when we enter heaven's gates!

Your post was great - I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Thanks for sharing!
LynnetteAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17034668237991084928noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7741889335668464068.post-71391292463234163522008-10-14T16:00:00.000-04:002008-10-14T16:00:00.000-04:00"I realized that I was reflecting the doctrines of..."I realized that I was reflecting the doctrines of whatever church I was attending instead of reflecting the love and grace of Christ."

I have so often been guilty as charged. You know the emphasis on Maturity in the Christian life is so evident throughout the New Testament, but so not evidenced in the world of Christian Service. If you have a pulse, a willingness to serve and a profession of faith you can be plugged into any position without so much as a question or a conversation beyond, "You want to volunteer... When can you start?"

We must focus on Christ, point others to Christ and grow in Christ in every way to be effective and to keep ourselves from the prideful piety of the Pharisees. Thanks so much for sharing.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16192231917797056935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7741889335668464068.post-9709446258785326442008-10-14T12:51:00.000-04:002008-10-14T12:51:00.000-04:00OH! If we could only see ourselves the way (#1) G...OH! If we could only see ourselves the way (#1) GOD sees us; and (#2) the way others see us. We'd shape up pretty fast.

Throughout my life I, too, have reflected the doctrines of whatever church I was attending instead of reflecting the love and grace of Christ. It takes maturity (I am, however, NOT old!) :-) and wisdom and discernment and I pray for those qualities in my life. There will never be enough GRACE for us in this fallen world!
Happy Tuesday, Friend!
-esthermayEsthermay Bentley-Goossenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17353385912611151311noreply@blogger.com
